The Clockwork Sky, by Madeleine Rosca

Review copy provided by Tor.

Were you wanting a comic about a rebellious young rich girl who tinkers with things and a steampunk robot cop who isn't supposed to be able to dream? Because this is that comic. The plot is completely predictable if you're at all well-read in genre, but if you're a young reader who hasn't encountered these tropes ten million times before and you like comics with a sort of quasi-manga art style, The Clockwork Sky does hit all the buttons pretty efficiently. Oppressed population, missing children, rebellious girl, mean governess, nifty robot...check and check and check, right on down the list.

Maybe in later volumes there will be something that isn't on the pre-set list.
