This is the worst vertigo day I've had all year.
Tell me something good, please?
I just found a pair of jeans that fits perfectly and are flattering. Huzzah!
With bonus verb noun disagreement. Ow.
I just noticed that a friend's Christmas card from last year featured cardinals. And I happen to have cardinal address stickers and seals on hand, courtesy of a nature society. With the pencil sharpener stamp
I just put on the envelope of her card, they add to the minor yet real satisfaction of preparing something with a little extra person-specific attention.
Also, the siblings-in-law and their sprogs sent me Periodic Tales
And speaking of elements: finding these earrings
for the niece pleased me greatly.

In addition to the wonderful happy bit of news I already mentioned in the reply to aamcnamara
I have seen and enjoyed Hugo
; received my nearly-final Arisia panel schedule which has only one morning panel (last year: three) and requires me to moderate only two (last year: five); acquired a new shiny toy as a gift from my employer; had other pleasant employer-related things happen; and had an amusing misunderstanding of an email subject line (mentioned over on G+).
I got Charlie a smallish xmas decoration that's a hollow pointy "tree" made of ornaments. He immediately stuck it onto his short arm and started making "pow pow pow" noises with it.
Your son is a cyborg with gun attachment.
That is so cool.
I am roasting a boneless leg of lamb, which we will have with creamer potatoes and peas, and then watch Being John Malkovich, and Soren's physical therapy is going very well.
My 11-yr-old son thinks Seanan McGuire is the best author ever.
Also, I just bought him an ocarina for Christmas (I had to look up what it was).
There, that's two good things! Feel better, hope it eases up a little.
I have tried a new cookie recipe on my usual test subjects (a/k/a, anyone who walks into my kitchen) and have been informed that this one is a keeper. http://smittenkitchen.com/2011/12/nutmeg-maple-butter-cookies/
. Personally, I still think last year's double ginger shortbread were far superior in texture, but who's to argue with the demands of one's housemates?
I thought about trying those, too! Perhaps next year.
By which I mean 2012 in general, not Christmas 2012.
I have a new KitchenAid mixer and there will be apricot pinwheels, butter tarts, and my shortbread nut bars tomorrow.

A brand new good thing just happened. My persnickety oven, which likes to vary its temperature wildly by 100+ degrees over a cooking cycle, held a steady temp long enough for me to bake three batches of cookies for work tomorrow.
I hope your evening/morning is full of minor odd little triumphs. And cartoons.
A friend of mine is starting up a Pathfinder game, and I have a delightful concept for a con-artist-type rogue.
I just made mini-Nutella cupcakes with only three ingredients (the recipe calls for four, but I couldn't find chopped--or whole--hazelnuts for anything at the store), and they turned out fantastic!
Oh, and I have a new Kobo ereader (the old one having not been working properly), so now I can set ebooks to the largest font size and read without massive strain and headaches!
I might have a story for the Dell Award contest.
Also just went to go see Sherlock Holmes with friends and enjoyed myself.
I spent the evening with the cutest baby in Nashville. He was fascinated by my shoes and tried to gnaw on my leg.
Marionberry cheese torte on triscuit crackers. Was. So. Good.
