Progress in dribbles and bits [Mar. 10th, 2010|11:07 am]

Yesterday I had about four hours of steady time. The day before that, three. The day before that, eight. Today, none, but still: this is the second time I've had three days in a row with some steady time in them. And I thought I should say, because it's a good thing. The previous time wasn't last week. But still, progress, definitely progress.

(Please do not congratulate me on three steady days or three days' steady time. That is another milestone, and one I am nowhere near yet; I haven't gotten a full 24 hours without getting dizzy yet, much less 72.)

So what did I do with yesterday's bonus steady time? Power tools. I ran the circular saw. We are getting close to done with the floors in the basement, and then we can do the trim and clean up and start moving timprov's stuff into his new room. So very close, and yet so much still to do.

oooh, power tools! I always wanted to use them when I was helping with the work at camp!

Yes, "there are power tools, but you're not safe to use them, so the big person has to use them for you" was on my (surprisingly long) list of how laying wood floors with vertigo is like Girl Scouts.

It is so nice to see progress after such a long time when none was visible. Yay for power tool time!

(PS to whoever runs the vertigo distribution system: sorry, but I don't want it either. Even if mine is nowhere near as bad. Not. Want.)

Any steady time is good time, and I am always cheering for you. ♥

(Also: Oh. I thought there had been 24 hours. I thought I remembered, while I was there, that there was one full day and night and then a smidge the next morning before it was gone.)

Nope, that was late afternoon, evening, and a smidge in the morning, not all day and a smidge the next morning. Still the longest time on record, though.

I am glad you are seeing progress, milestone or not. I am also glad the Big Person let you use the power tools. Another couple runs like this and you can be troop leader. ;)

Progress! The actual amount of time right now is not nearly as important as the fact that you're moving in the right direction.

I'm sure that's true from a logical standpoint.

But maybe doesn't feel that way, I'm sure.

Congratulations on multiple intervals of steady time. And on nearly being done with the floors! I fear the circular saw and will not use it, myself, although I am handy with a reciprocating saw. Well done, you.

The unpredictability of the whole thing must be a challenge. Do you always have a list in your head of what you could do if you get a good hour?

Oh yes. Although the first steady time in a set is fairly predictable with regards to when I last did PT, so at least there's that.

I wish I had a reason to use power tools. I also wish I had wood flooring. This wall-to-wall carpet is just ugly.

three days with steady time is good. Power tools are also good.

almost done on floors is good. Hey! That's three good things in a row! That's pretty excellent, all things considered.
