Week of August 21-27

Four rejections, no acceptances. I suppose that could make it a bad week for short stories in Mrissaland, except that two of them were the "really sorry please send something else" flavor of rejections, and a third was in the "about damn time" category. Also we like activity in the mailbox. Empty mailboxes are no good to me. Better that I know if someone isn't going to want a story, so I can send it along to someone who might.

Also I worked my writer magic by taking a check to the bank, promptly causing another check to appear in the mailbox. It's uncanny.

Hey, are any of you looking to cat-wax and practiced at making those little animated icons? Because I have a snarky political one I'd like to have, but I don't know how to make it go from one image to another, and anyway I'm not so good at getting the images in the first place, unless they're just pictures I already have, which I manage all right, I guess. Comment or e-mail me if you'd like to help out.

I have a mad craving for squid. Had a hard time keeping down cranberry juice this morning, and now I want the calamari like they make at House of Nanking (in San Francisco). And maybe some of their eggplant-y fish stuff would be excellent, too. I think this means my body has gone entirely crazy, but not entirely tasteless, so we will deal with it appropriately. Probably without squid, though. Sigh.
